After hearing the sound of sirens for a few minutes, the motorcycles started to appear. They were stopping all traffic on Crystal Drive. I figured something/someone important was coming, so I grabbed my camera. I guess a dozen big buses could carry a lot of important people, but it doesn’t make for a very interesting photo or story. I still don’t understand the motorcade philosophy. Wouldn’t someone be safer if all that attention weren’t drawn to them? I guess it does reduce the chance of auto accidents – which would be a sad conclusion to someone motorcade worthy.

 

I was driving up 14th St. and stopped at the light to make a left, when this Presidential candidate walked in front of my car (yes, it’s Mitt Romney). Luckily, I had my camera, so I took this through an open sunroof. He continued west on K, so I drove parallel with him for the next few blocks. He read papers as he walked, perhaps to keep people from accosting him. He may want to reconsider his picks for his security detail. I’m pretty sure the guy behind him could only hope to call someone tough.

 

I think the pipsqeak bought his own earpiece at one of DC’s many earpiece stores.
