What a weekend. Thursday I left Las Vegas in the early afternoon and flew to DC. Here are the highlights:
The reason I went to DC.
Our friends who joined us on the boat.
And for some reason, we separated into gender for the pictures. Which reminds me of the bathroom in the food court at the dock – which didn’t. Before getting on the boat, Joni and I went into the food court. We found the bathroom, which was advertised as a unisex bathroom. A line had formed, and it was mostly women, but some men were coming out. It wasn’t a small little bathroom – it had 2 stalls and a urinal. The line was just keeping the door open, and people were going in and out. I became the only guy standing in line and I felt a little weird. I wanted to explain that it wasn’t a women’s bathroom, regardless of the composition of the line. Finally Joni and I step into the bathroom itself as the line progresses. That’s when some guy comes in to shake things up. He seemed like the custodian, but he was there to lay down the law on how the bathroom queue was to operate. He wanted to let all the women in front of me go, then close the bathroom down, let me go in by myself, then let the ladies resume. The women in line didn’t care, but I didn’t want to hold things up, so I just stepped out of line. Soon other men were gathering. We eventually got our turn and for a brief moment it was a men’s bathroom.
Kennedy Center from the Potomac.
Is there a better place to see fireworks on July 4 than to be on the Potomac, with the fireworks framed by the Washington Monument and the Lincoln Memorial?
I stayed until Saturday morning. After a rough flight, I arrived back in Las Vegas in time for the family carnival.
Before.
That one was huge. Notice that before I jumped there were 2 kids in the water. After: none.
Open for business.
Gina wanted to feel tall.
Placing my order.
Noah bellys up to the bar.
Donut eating – kids division.
Noah – the champ. “Eat real fast!”
I won. The powdered donut was a real mistake.
Leigh in the Leigh Division. She lost.
Noah didn’t like getting messy in the pie eating competition.
