Punkin Chunkin 2008

November 1st, 2008 · 4 Comments

We went again! This year was great. Instead of being incredibly cold, it was just a little too warm. Here are some photos and videos:

New deer scent? We just couldn’t figure that one out.

I caught this one firing. If you look closely, you can see the punkin in the air.

The whole event takes place in [...]

Williamsburg

November 1st, 2008 · 1 Comment

A few weeks ago Mom & Dad came for a visit. We spent the first day at Colonial Williamsburg. The next day we had breakfast at the Eastern Market then saw the new memorials. Unfortunately, I didn’t have my camera on the second day, so here are the few that I did take that weekend:

In [...]

Labor Day: Wild & Wonderful

September 1st, 2008 · 6 Comments

I went this weekend to West Virginia. Mary, Mandy, et al. put together a great trip to Canaan Valley, WV. We stayed in a great cabin, in the midst of a ski resort.
Here are some flowers. They were on the side of the road where we stopped to collect our American flag. While at the [...]

DC Weekend

August 5th, 2008 · 2 Comments

I went to DC this weekend. Really, I should say I spent a few waking hours in DC this weekend.
I left Las Vegas around midnight Friday on a direct flight to Dulles. It was my first time taking JetBlue, and one of the few times I’ve taken an overnight flight. JetBlue was cool. They handed [...]

Denver

July 20th, 2008 · 6 Comments

Welcome to Denver! This was my second visit to the city, but my first time trying to explore the city. We arrived late Friday night and eventually found our way to the hotel. Just a tip: if you find yourself paying tolls, you’re going the wrong way.
Saturday morning we checked out the 16th Street area [...]

Independence Day

July 6th, 2008 · 3 Comments

What a weekend. Thursday I left Las Vegas in the early afternoon and flew to DC. Here are the highlights:

The reason I went to DC.

Our friends who joined us on the boat.

And for some reason, we separated into gender for the pictures. Which reminds me of the bathroom in the food court at the dock [...]

A NY Daytrip

May 18th, 2008 · No Comments

Our day started early, somewhere in the 7am range. I think it was the first time I had seen the AM version of 7 o’clock in a long time.
We left for Chinatown to meet our bus. It was to be my first trip on the Chinatown bus. At $20 one-way to NYC, it’s hard to [...]

To The Limit

April 15th, 2008 · 3 Comments

Before:

After:

The math:
$3.669/gallon
1.936 cups of gas left in the tank before filling
The aftermath:
I don’t drive very often. I must have forgotten that I was low on gas. I had to go somewhere and didn’t have time to stop for gas. It was pretty thrilling. While this one ended well, the next one might not.

STT -> JFK -> ???

March 9th, 2008 · 1 Comment

Don’t arrive at the St. Thomas airport any earlier than you have to. There’s nothing there except a giant, hot room full of irritated travelers. “The flight to Philadelphia scheduled for 5pm will now be departing at 10:35pm.” I was glad that our plane was only arriving to St. Thomas a few minutes late. Their [...]

St. Thomas - Day 4

March 9th, 2008 · No Comments

With checkout at noon and my flight at six, I wasn’t sure what to do with myself. I decided to take my chances with the taxis and head into town. I talk to the front desk about the best way to do it. Basically they said walk down the road in the direction I want [...]
